For those of you looking for a bit of nostalgia my fotopic site
erniesirishrailwayphotos.fotopic.net has now been up or should it be back dated with colour photos from the 1960's of ex GNRI and CIE scenes featuring many lines now closed. These are from original slides and negatives recently purchased. Ernie |

Also the 1430 Heuston - Galway was worked by 210 and 7 Mk2d's. thewanderersirishrailphot...52700.html The Wanderer. |

To complement Mr. 227's 071 Sunday, the Wanderer and a few other well known faces travelled to Cork to sample, for the 2nd time a Push / Pull set on the Cork - Cobh line. To round off a fantastic day down there we had 085 back to Dublin on the 1930 ex Cork.
Good to see a few more faces out for the Push / Pull than last time! Photos may be found here: thewanderersirishrailphot...700_1.html The 201 Class - maybe not so forgotten after all :) The Wanderer. |

Two updates.
Yesterday I got the passport out and went south to Cork to sample our new Mark 4 trains. Slightly embarrassed to admit it has taken me a year to travel on these new trains on the Dublin to Cork line. Some pictures taken down including the hybrid railcar 2609/2716. It might have taken a year to travel on the Mk.4s but it has taken 13 years to travel on 2609! Also notice the high cleanliness standards of the railcars in the 'rebel county': www.railsceneireland.fotopic.net/c1236392_73.html And from today another trip to Kildare. Pictures start at the bottom of the above link but most begin from here: www.railsceneireland.fotopic.net/c1236392_97.html Saw the container train in Kildare again today and once again 203. I am fed up seeing that engine. Also (8)208 and 209, owned by Northern Ireland Railways passed through on Irish Rail services. On a side note, I saw five of the six Enterprise liveried locos today and only one of them was on the Enterprise! Enjoy!! |
