An 8 car 29000 unit was the first to break the NIR TPWS ban when it was used to replace the 201+DD set working the 10:00 Dublin to Belfast this morning (6th Jan, 2008), which had failed at Howth Jct.
It returned to Dublin working a much delayed 13:00 from Belfast. |

Hellfire set 29010 worked the 1818 Maynooth-Pearse. It had its dymamic brake in action most 29000s seem to have it isolated now.

29121 seemed to struggle to get going out of Sallins today going to Newbridge. Maybe it was the wheels slipping in the wet rails but sounded i bit sick has this being happening before????

Yes the 29000s can be prone to bad slipping in damp conditions. As with most modern traction systems when wheel slip is detected power is limited to the transmission thereby possibly producing engine hunting as slip is detected then clears. This is to prevent sudden adhesion and the damage it could inflict of the wheels and transmission.

No not as yet as the set that operates this service also operates the 0600 Gorey Connolly service . However that should change over to a 22K in the next few weeks. |

The 1305 Connolly/Rosslare Europort and 1740 Rosslare Europort/Drogheda were operated by 29002 yesterday in anticipation of the Minister for Transport taking
the service en route to deliver a speech in Wexford.
Unfortunately, the Minister eventually travelled by road. |
