Ah yes h gricer. Those were the days alright. 071s working passenger trains by day and freight by night. Credit when its due the 071 is a great machine. The loss of the mail train was the start of the big railfreight decline. Many a night was spent watching the mail getting loaded on platform 2 in Connolly. h gricer thank you for bringing those memories back. h gricer Forever . . .

Yes the mail trains were the days, no other train conjures up such classic images of steam heating, mailbags being thrown in and out of vans both road and
rail, stations buzzing with activity in the middle of the night. Sadly those halycon days are long behind us and the only posting railfans now do on the
railways is on IRN!
