The 1755 Maynooth - Rosslare was terminated at Connolly this evening; worked by 2801/02 + 2816/15 + 2806/05. The service was worked by 29020 foward from Connolly to Rosslare. GM 160 |

3x2 piece railcar on the docklands station today.didnt see what type because i was on the main line off Maynooth line.tight squeeze at the Headshunt in Clonsilla i assume

WHAT IS GOING ON WITH THE 2800's THIS MORNING!!!! While I was waiting at Raheny this morning an 8 piece "combo" set passed by, working the 0718 Drogheda - Bray service. This is normally an 8 piece 2600 set. But it was formed of 6x2800's and 2x2600's, nos. 2804/03 + 2813/14 + 2812/11 + 2602/01. If that wasn't enough of a suprise, the 0758 Maynooth - Bray service was formed by an 8 piece 2800 railcar, (nos. 2818/17 + 28xx/xx + 28xx/xx + 2806/05). This service is normally operated by an 8 piece 29000. Bearing these strange workings in mind, what on earth is woking the Gorey and Rosslare services today??? It must be 2600's and 29000's!!! 2808/07 2810/09 were on the DSE today along with 2 29000 sets.

The "strange" 2800 workings continued throughout the day, as follows:
2804/03 + 2813/14 + 2812/11 + 2602/01 worked the 1604 Maynooth - Pearse service and the 1713 Pearse - Dundalk services. 2808/07 + 2810/09 worked the 1652 Maynooth - Gorey service (as normal). GM 160 |

Must be a problem with the 28's as I noted a 29000 set on the Up Enniscorthy and a 29000 on the Down Rosslare this morning.

All 20 2800s were noted in service several days ago 2x 6 piece on Intercity duty and one 8 piece back with Commuter. I think there must be some 29000s getting attention and Intercity 2800s are being lent back to the Commuter sector to cover them.

6car Intercity unit 2817/18/11/12/07/08 worked this mornings 0535 Rosslare - Dundalk service. Fellow Intercity units 2809/10/14/13/19/20 worked the 0544 Arklow - Rosslare and 0740 Rosslare - Connolly services. |

Intercity units 2809/10/14/13/19/20 worked the 1755 Maynooth Rosslare. The 28s will now enjoy Christmas in the Europort!

There seems to be a 4x28 and 4x26 mixture about. Certainly the Up Early Bird ex Rosslare on Monday was 4 x 28 and the Down was a 29. 29s on the Up RLare this a.m. too.

No DSE.There are 18 out the 20 are in service today. Things should return to normal when the next batch of ROK's enter service releasing 29s back on commuter duties.

Saw that mixed 26/28 set in Connolly yesterday morning: 2805/06 + 2605/16 + 2601/02 + 2817/18. It passed through plat.7 at 0955, it appeared to be empty.

The combo set nos. 2818/17 + 2602/01 + 2616/05 + 2804/03 worked the 1505 Maynooth - Connolly service yesterday (14/1/08). One of the doors on 2602 gave some trouble at Leixlip Louisa Bridge and again at Coolmine. It took about 6 or 7 attempts to close it each time. The train was also very "sluggish" with poor acceleration as only 6 of the 8 engines were running; nos. 2804 and 2817 had "dead" engines and as we all know the 2600s are not the most powerful to say the least. Anyway, I enjoyed the run in to Connolly on them, first I travelled in 2818 and then moved back to 2602 for a bit of thrash!
Got another suprise this morning (15/1/08) when a 6 piece 2800 turned up on the 0840 Connolly - Maynooth service; nos. 2811/12 + 2807/08 + 2814/13. This is normally worked by a 4 piece 29000. GM 160 |
