02/09/2007:
LHB sets 8125/8325 + 8135/8335 have had their seats removed and also their pantographs and have been fitted with tail lights. I noticed them at the south end of Fairview Depot this evening at about 1930. They will probably be hauled to North Wall tomorrow and be shipped off for refurbishment shortly. 2LHB units 03 + 33 still about as a 4 piece. This set seems to be on the 07h13 ex Malahide link.
Also a bit of a failure in Dn Laoghaire this evening with the 16h40 ex Howth. Door problems with 2RFB unit 05 saw the set being failed and passengers detrained. The Alsthoms must be making a comeback! DSE |

I have notice that 4 car set. It has being in service since last Monday. Fingers crossed that an 8200 will return to service soon.

I noticed 8202 at the bufferstops from the Clontarf Road earlier today. Its rear marker lights were on so it might be a good sign. Also has the new DART logo applied to the cab front.

Re: DARTWatch | ||

There is a six car Alstom Dart formation made up in the Connolly end of the Fairview depot and the pantographs are up on all units.
Perhaps this is a sign of a return to service although they have been there for a few days now. Yesterday I saw what I thought were a few Metros Newspapers scattered on the seats inside so maybe they took a trip yesterday? |

The 6GEC set seems to be out on night time testing as its brake discs look very polished a sure sign it is out and about.

4/10/2007:
Alstom Darts 8202/8402, 8203/8403 and 8205/8405 have all been split up and moved back to the sidings nearest to fairview park (furthest away from the main line). Set 8201/8401 is still in the sidings at the north end of the depot, GM 160 |

Must have given up the ghost again. God they are dreadful! I suppose the drivers are all out of refresher training by now and they will need schooling to bring them up to speed. Another month will pass!

I've been told that the problems with the 8200s are bogie related. But yes, my source also mentioned the same thing about refresher training probably being necessary.

Re: DARTWatch | ||

I scarcely know one DART carriage from another, but in Dublin recently I saw a heap of them. I was very impressed with their smooth, relatively noiseless acceleration (compared to those rowdy railcars), but what really struck me (again) was how much more handsome the original LHB carriages are. Seeing them glide in and out of the night with their classic straight sides, attractive roof-line and relatively uncluttered under-floor had me day-dreaming of a continental rendezvous - until I woke up in Tara St !

LHB sets 8103/8303 + 8133/8333 were outside Fairview this evening at about 1850. They have had their pantographs removed and look as though they are waiting to be hauled down to North Wall for shipment. Refurbished LHB sets 8105/8305 + 8117/8317 were coupled together at the north end of Fairvew this evening. (Set 05 has been in service for a few months and set 17 is still on trial runs). Also Refurb LHB 8120/8320 was parked just behind 05+17. It is also on trial runs. GM 160 |

Re: DARTWatch | ||

refurbished set 8120 /8320 in service tonight going northbound at Killiney at 18.30. Dont know what other sets were included. Just wonder if this is part of a fourth refurbished set. The fourth refurbished set is badly needed given the absence of the Spanish sets and around 20 carriages away in Czech republic for refurbishment.

Re: DARTWatch | ||

I reckon that is a fourth refurbished set in service. Set 20 was with sets 05 and 17 yesterday evening outside Fairview. That also means set 17 is now in traffic. If so te sets are now as follows:
8105 + 17 + 20 8139 + 40 + 38 8107 + 13 + 31 8123 + 30 + 24 Thanks for the info, Regards GM 160 |

Re: DARTWatch | ||

Overheard a conversation on the DART today, 2 business types on about refurbishing the LHB's. Gotta love how arrogant and unaware they were, sending these "wagons" away one by one, and as long as they have "10 wheels" whats the point!??!?!? Felt like giving them the lowdown but decided against it.
