I also thought the train was declared failed way too quickly. 071 was in the sidings at Thurles and 081 was in Limerick Junction. I think they could have kept
going if they wanted to. I'd also be curious to know where 171+152 are now.

Just looking at the excellent photos of the IRRS tour by members of the board-It was a shame that 071 could not have been used to haul the tour train onwards
from Thurles as it was uncoupled from the ballast and could have easily shunted the Mk3s to the down loop where 171+150-(which was under power I believe) could
have been detached and then run to the ballast siding-a delay of no more than 20 minutes,
I'm sure Limerick could send either 175 or 177 to Thurles at some stage to haul the failed 171 back and leave 152 to work the ballast-a very good loco on the ballast on the WRC I'm told, And from what I read the 16:30 Cork-Heuston was to overtake the tour at Thurles-with the tour train routed to the down platform(which I see did not happen)-this would have made 071s job much easier....!!!, With three 071s around-081 Limerick Jctn,085,087 in Limerick their was plenty of cover available in the event of any failures, Someone"messed" up there big time in my opinion.......!!!!!!

175 worked several trips from Glounthaune to Midleton yesterday afternoon on driver training. As said on another thread the line is a fantastic job and a
credit to the I.E renewals gang.
