Did a bit of gricing today and unfortunately the weather wasn't very kind and I got a bit wet in the process. Despite that it was an eventful day on the Mayo branch, with 072 failing in Ballina on the IWT this morning, meant 079 was sent from Westport and 217 was sent from Inchicore to replace 079 on the timber. 079 didn't leave Ballina until noon thus it meant 3 liners in quick succession at Castlerea and a light engine movement. Here are some pictures:
1) 0900 in Claremorris with 083 on the DFDS.
2) 1315 at Castlerea and 082 approaches from Roscommon with the DFDS. He was on a tight schedule to be in Claremorris for 1345 thus he didn't slow down much and bombed through the station at speed.
3) 1345 the pocket wagon IWT with 215 arrives into the loop in Castlerea.
4) 1350 and 079 having barely slowed down storms through Castlerea with the late running IWT from Ballina after crossing the earlier DFDS in Ballyhaunis, creating a relatively rare sceen on the Mayo branch of two liners crossing.
5) 1440 Ballyhaunis and the IWT is looped by 217 which needs to get to Westport on time to take the timber to Waterford. This creates another rare sceen of two 201's facing the same direction in this station.
6) 1510 - 215 arrives into Claremorris and departs after the westport bound passenger at 1550.
