The time intervals between Darts during peak hour vary between 7 and 15 mins. There are some additional services slotted in around the regular service to augment the 15min clock-face services, hence the reson for some gaps of only 7 mins.

One of these additional services was operated by a 4 piece LHB Dart set, nos. 8103/8303 + 8104/8304. I noted it arriving into plat.6 in Connolly at 1850 this evening on a terminating service from either Howth or Malahide.

An 8 car LHB set went northbound through Blackrock out of service at 1720 this evening 30/11/09. I hope thats not going to be a regular occurrence.......

So much for the extra peak services(!) There didnt seem to be many going north bound this evening. While I welcome the 15 mins gap between services off peak, it is far too long a gap for peak times. There seemed to be a few extra going southbound, hopefully this will be ironed out shortly...

Just to note on 8133 Commuter, last pic I have of it in service is on 5th August 09, working south through Blackrock. It had the Dart 25 logo on the front of the north facing cab, which was a step up from nothing beforehand! After that, I havent seen her for a while.

One or two interesting points to note in the above report:

Firstly, for the first time in just over 4 months there is an 8 piece LHB Dart formation about in the form of: 8120 + 32 + 29 + 05, I observed it arriving into Tara Street on a southbound service at approx 0900 this morning.

Secondly, there is some significance in the LHB formation 8107 + 13 + 24. These were the first three LHB sets to enter traffic on 25/04/2007 (in that order) following refurbishment work. To the...

As far as I know FGW, the LHB Darts can no longer work in multiple with the Japanese units, the different systems used in the two types of Dart are non-compatible.

Although I appreicate the fact that the practice has ceased can all the 8100s operate in multiple with the 86xx sets? If not can somebody list which LHB sets can?

19/10/2009:

Dart services were suspended this morning for a time between Dun Laoghaire and Bray following an incident at Sandycove & Glasthule station. According to news reports a man fell under a Dart shortly after 0900, but is believed to have survived the accident. No comment was made on the extent of his injuries and emergency services were on the scene within miuntes. The line opened again at about 1000.

I think the Dart set involved may have been 8140 + 39 + 38...

Seems like there was a problem south of Dalkey this evening, due to vandalism according to the PIS. Trains were scheduled to run to Dalkey only. 29010 worked from Connolly to Dalkey at 2145 stopping at all stations.

Ah EdEMD, the 4 alstom sets at Fairview have all been moving about recently, on a regular basis too. Every day I pass they're somewhere different. Set 02 is now parked behind Clontarf Road station. I wonder if they're going to make another (brief) appearance???

Set 03 is still at Inchicore Works.

New overhead bridge at Seapoint seems to have opened. Lifts must still be complete. Very much in keeping with the old station building.

Two German sets went to Drogheda yesterday. One is definitely 32 but unsure about the other. Based on Commuter 29422's list above I would guess it was 30, though 20 is also a candidate.
